Default 66 A/FX 427SOHC BEAST!

I'd forgotten (old age will do that) Holman-Moody made a few of these Beasts:

1966 427 SOHC

The Mustang also got a boost in its already high-performance image when Holman-Moody racing ordered 15 1966 Mustangs for use in the A/FX drag racing class. These Mustangs were turned into brutes, thanks to the installation of the 427 SOHC "Cammer" V-8.

The picture of the 1966 Mustang A/FX drag car didn't "paste" but it was a fastback with various stickers...

Wouldn't it be fun to take one of these to the track today!!

I got excited from seeing that picture & remembering (no mean feat at my age) how cool these 427s were so I called Coast High Performance to see what their SBF 427, 4150 Holley Carb'd, 500 hp version, or the MPFI w/Throatle Body, 520 hp version would cost. They said $10,999 for the carb'd & $13,999 for the Fuel Injected version! These are ready to drop into your ride! So I got a Rod & Custom Mfg. Coil Over, Rack & Pinion Steering & new Front Disc Brake Kit from cjponyparts.com and we are going to get much of it poweder coated in the next few weeks before installing it. One of the things this will allow is to remove the shock towers in my little 66 GT Vert and then, I will think hard about adding the SBF 427 from CHP. The 4150 Holley would support a Paxton or other Centrifigal S/C with the use of a Carb Hat as would the Throatle Body Multi-Port FI Version. Either one would produce some very heathy numbers with a S/C! Their motors come with a 24 month/24,000 mile warantee so they should be plenty strong enough to hold the S/C! Here are two pics of how the 66 looks and also a Twin Turbo'd GT (820rwhp) at last Sat. Car Show!
