Default New Rear Shocks - Not So Easy on Early 'Verts
We had already pulled the billet battery tray, NOS Bottle, Carpet & Mirrors from the trunk to install a new gas tank so figured we would do rear air-shocks too. When most of us think of new shocks, we think of pulling into a shop & getting a set put on in just a few minutes. However, on my 66 Mustang 'Vert, we had to pull the rear seats & my son Doug squeezed his oversized hands behind the rear seat support to remove the shock mounting bolt. Since I sometimes carry Football Players sitting on the folded down top during Homecomming Parades, we decided to replace the low milage KYB GR-2s with air-shocks for more height and better load support on the rear of the car. Here are some pics of the trunk after installing the new tank & replacing some of the carpet padding. The rear shock mounts were hard to reach & my son ran the air line "T" to inside of the trunk.
